Colaberry: How did you hear about Colaberry?

Mohamed: My sister completed the program and was able to get a really good job right out of Colaberry.

Colaberry: What do you think people should know about you?

Mohamed: I am a problem solver. No matter how stuck I get, I am relentless in finding the answer. This is one of the skills that set me apart in my interviews after the program.

Colaberry: Was any family member(s) or support system instrumental in helping you reach your current level of success?

Mohamed: Yes, my wife is my backbone. Even when I got extremely frustrated and felt like giving up, she motivated me to finish.

Colaberry: Where did you grow up? Are you a member of any underrepresented classes in the tech world?

Mohamed: I was born and raised in Southern California.

Colaberry: Why did you decide to enroll in Colaberry Inc.’s program?

Mohamed: My previous career in product design and tech support was going nowhere. Long hours, low pay and little to no recognition were frustrating. I had hit my max salary, and it was not even close to supporting a family. Colaberry Inc. provided the best path forward.

Colaberry: What challenges or circumstances did you have to overcome to be successful (if any) and how did Colaberry Inc assist you in that?

Mohamed: My biggest challenge was understanding how to problem solve issues in the BI (Business Intelligence) stack. Colaberry helped me overcome that.

Colaberry: Did you have a data analytic/data science background or any associated skills prior to joining Colaberry Inc?

Mohamed: Nope. I didn’t have any background, and the fact that I am now fluent in data is amazing to me. The program really prepares you for a future in this career field. Their award-winning technology platform Refactored.ai platform engages you until you get a job and succeed.

Colaberry: How do you think you benefited most from Colaberry Inc’s training?

Mohamed: I gained the knowledge and confidence to get a great job. Their people, process and technology approach helped me to be job ready on day one.

Colaberry: What did you like most about the Refactored.ai platform?

Mohamed: Refactored.ai helped me develop both tech skills and human skills required to become future ready. I really enjoyed the video mocks and the way that the platform helped me learn tough concepts.

Colaberry: Do you have any fond memories during your training experience you’d like to share?

Mohamed: The great thing about the program is that it includes real-world project experience. One of the projects I was involved in was dealing with mortgage industry data sets. The amazing thing about this is that it was actual industry data and I got the chance to organize, determine what was important, and present it in a way that would be manageable for leaders in an organization.

I remember when I got stuck on the mortgage project for about a month. Eventually I figured out my problem, but up until that point I took advantage of the support and help from the instructors and mentors. The great thing was that when I had this problem, I was at the point in the program where I knew I could finish and make it through to success. I am so glad I stuck it out!

Colaberry: In terms of current salary vs. your previous position, do you feel that Colaberry helped you to reach your goals? In what way has this improved your life?

Mohamed: My goal was to get a small increase in pay, but with Colaberry I almost doubled my salary!

Colaberry: Did you learn any “human” skills (e.g. non-verbal communication, tone of voice, etc.) through Colaberry?

Mohamed: By doing all the videos, I now feel like I am better at presenting in a group setting. Colaberry Inc’s online training platform Refactored.ai was critical to my success. The automocks were extremely helpful, and so was the video interviewing practice because when you record yourself speaking, you get the opportunity to see yourself the way employers do when they interview you.

One of the amazing benefits of the Refactored.ai platform is that it has real-time video and audio analysis of what you say and do. The platform analyzes specific delivery of soft skills and determines where a student can improve in a specific area.

Some of the human skills I perfected with the Refactored platform were:

Colaberry: How did those skills help you in the workplace/ getting a job?

Mohamed: I am able to communicate issues effectively to my managers and team. I am also better at collaboration and problem solving.

Colaberry: What did you think of your mentor and the mentoring system we offer students?

Mohamed: It’s a wonderful system if you understand what it’s for. The mentor is supposed to be a coach who guides you, not play the game for you. All they can do is motivate and push you in the right direction, but in the end it is up to you to make your own success.

Colaberry: Would you recommend Colaberry to others? If yes, why?

Mohamed: Yes, I told a lot of my friends. I feel like this program gives a great shot at a successful career to those who would normally never consider it in data analytics.

Colaberry: Would you ever consider returning to Colaberry to take more classes?

Mohamed: Yes, as soon as I get some time.

Colaberry: What do you find most enjoyable about your current position?

Mohamed: Learning new stuff every day and building on what I know.

Colaberry: Do you have any final thoughts or advice to current and future students at Colaberry?

Mohamed: This program isn’t for the faint of heart. It is a lot of work. You should not go in expecting to be spoon fed and come out successful. In the end, you are the one to thank, or blame, on your outcome.
